| Cruise vessel calls at Port-Louis on round-the-world tour. | |
| Mitsui OSK Lines passenger vessel, m/s “NIPPON MARU”, effected an 80-hour call at Port Louis in February last.
This was the first time Mauritius had been included on the vessel’s annual round-the-world cruise itinerary. This year’s cruise started in Tokyo and the ship is scheduled to call in some 20 ports, including Singapore, Seychelles, Reunion, Cape Town, Rio, Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Valparaiso, Easter Island and Honolulu, before returning to Japan in April, some 100 days after starting the cruise. During a reception held on board the vessel, Mr A. Ashida, MOL Senior Managing Director, highlighted the factors which contribute in making Port Louis a choice destination for shipowners. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Mauritius Ports Authority, Mr. R Maunthrooa, reiterated his organisation’s objective to attract more cruise vessels in Port Louis and announced plans to develop port infrastructure dedicated to cruise and passenger vessel traffic.
Mitsui OSK Line has, since many decades, been represented in Mauritius by Blyth Brothers & Co Ltd, an Ireland Blyth Limited Group Company. |
