Although Scomat was only created in 1997 as a subsidiary of IBL, its association with the agricultural and engineering activities dates as far back as 1929, with the signature of a dealership agreement between Caterpillar and Blyth Brothers, one of the two founder companies of IBL.

In 2001, a new company, Scimat, was created, in equal partnership with Scime of Reunion, to act as regional dealer for Caterpillar, thus pooling the combine strengths of Scomat and Scime for the benefit of our customers.
