Assistant Category Manager

Winners, the leading supermarket chain in Mauritius, is looking for an Assistant Category Manager who will be driving category growth and profitability. The incumbent will, with the Category Manager, ensure our product offerings are competitive and appealing to our customer base.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in managing and driving the product category.
Regularly monitor and analyze category performance to propose insight-driven initiatives.
Build and maintain sustainable relationships with suppliers, ensuring best prices and quality.
Oversee and adjust pricing strategies with the Category Manager to stay competitive.
Coordinate with the Marketing Department to execute promotions and ensure accurate representation in brochures and other marketing materials.
Collaborate with planogrammers and outlet teams to ensure that product displays are well-maintained and visually compelling.
Address out-of-stock issues promptly and implement solutions to avoid recurrence.
Manage direct import orders to ensure products align with market trends and offer significant value and margin.
Lead and motivate the team by fostering an environment of growth and performance.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Marketing Management or any other relevant qualifications
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
Conversant with MS Office package
Good understanding of the local FMCG sector or Retail business can be an advantage
Holder of a valid driving licence

Ability to demonstrate analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Detail and results-oriented
Ability to work under pressure
Available to work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, as well as odd hours
