Bakery Chef

Winners, the leading supermarket chain in Mauritius, is looking for a dynamic Bakery Chef to consolidate its Bakery team.  The incumbent will report to the Senior Category Manager and will oversee all the activities related to the Bakery department across the Supermarket chain with a strong focus on product quality, operational efficiency, and sales performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise regular sales activation campaigns within the supermarkets to drive revenue growth.
  • Monitor and enforce the store’s commercial policy, including product assortment, pricing, and promotional activities.
  • Ensure product quality and freshness in all displays and provide advice on initiatives to boost sales by category and product line.
  • Follow up on stock levels during store visits to prevent sales losses due to out-of-stock situations.
  • Optimise production processes with an emphasis on producing high-quality goods, and test ingredients to finalise product costing.
  • Actively participate in product development and innovation, ensuring evaluation and improvement are continuous.
  • Ensure that recipes, costing, and procedures are regularly updated and maintained in the ERP system.
  • Lead, coach, and train team members, ensuring adherence to set standards and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Monitor department sales against budget and propose strategic sales actions when required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • NTC 3 or any other equivalent qualifications
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in a similar position
  • Conversant with MS Office Suite
  • Experience in the retail sector will constitute an advantage
