Category Executive

Winners, the leading supermarket chain in Mauritius, is looking for a Category Executive who will manage the pricing, promotion, and merchandising of product categories to maximize profitability and market competitiveness. The incumbent will report to the Category Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze supplier price proposals utilizing the pricelist to ensure alignment with internal benchmarks.
  • Establish consumer prices for SKUs within the category, ensuring achievement of required gross profit margin.
  • Develop promotional pricing strategies, forecasting turnover and profit objectives realistically to maximize promotional returns.
  • Conduct competitive analysis on products within the price anomaly cluster to identify market trends and opportunities.
  • Select products for promotional activities (brochure or in-store), coordinating with the procurement department to negotiate terms.
  • Assist the Category Manager in product selection adhering to pre-set criteria, ensuring strategic alignment with category goals.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to finalize product lists for promotional brochures.
  • Define and implement merchandising plans and planograms in collaboration with planogram specialists.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Higher School Certificate or any other relevant qualifications
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a similar role
  • Conversant with MS Office package
  • Good understanding of the local FMCG sector or Retail business can be an advantage
