General Manager

IBL Shipping is looking for a seasoned professional to act as General Manager. Boasting a wide range of services and its long-established experience in the maritime industry IBL Shipping is one of the leaders in the industry.

 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the job incumbent will be mainly required to:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct the team that manages the company vessel, to ensure inter-alia, its proper manning, its safe operation in compliance with national / international requirements, maintain and update the procedure manuals and management system, ensure successful internal / external system audits and strict adherence to standards of the Classification Society.
  • Head the Port Agencies business and ensure first class services are provided to Principals.
  • Lead the team of Marine Surveyors.
  • Implement strategies for growth whilst maximizing on revenue streams and profitability for all companies/departments through the optimization of manpower productivity and resources.
  • Implement annual business plans and formulate initiatives and strategies to reach targets.
  • Prepare budgets and keep track of financial performance, taking appropriate actions when necessary to keep the company on track with objectives set.
  • Put in place plans and strategies to promote an inclusive culture of work and performance and foster the wellbeing and growth of team members.
  • Work in collaboration with all stakeholders to promote the mission, vision and values of the company.
  • Build up and maintain a trusting relationship with partners, clients, competent authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Assist the COO in any other task, as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in business administration or management or a management related field.
  • Additional qualifications relating to the maritime industry and/or seagoing experience in a senior position would constitute an advantage.
  • At least 10 years of experience in managing a maritime company.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications.
