Head of IT

We are looking for an experienced Head of IT, whose role will be to lead the information technology (IT) activities of the Seafood Cluster, being responsible for overall planning, development and implementation of IT strategies of each business unit within the cluster. The candidate will report to the Cluster’s COO.

Main Duties

Strategic Management

  • Develop and execute the IT Strategy of business units within the cluster
  • Research, identify and evaluate new technology solutions and make appropriate recommendations to the management.
  • Oversee the implementation and operation of IT systems, ensuring that end-user impact, training, quality among other elements are properly addressed and monitored.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate business continuity plan.
  • Develop and direct all cybersecurity safeguards to reduce the risk of breaches.
  • Work closely with the Head of Departments and Managers with the goal to implement technologies to streamline company’s policies and rules.
  • Assess, measure, track and communicate the organisation risk posture with respect to IT
  • Develop, promote and oversee strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including vendors, partner organisations (outsourcer)

 

Operational Management

  • Act as primary liaison for IT vision of business units of the cluster via regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users.
  • Monitor performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
  • Define and communicate IT project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to executive team, department leads, support staff, and end users.
  • Benchmark, analyse, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems, equipment performance.
  • Develop and oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures and standards.
  • Authorize and oversee the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of all hardware and software based on department needs.

 

Team Management

  • Manage and monitor the performance of the IT department and guide/mentor team members in achieving the objectives of the organisation
  • Ensure that the responsibilities, KPIs and accountabilities for all team members are defined, communicated and understood
  • Ensure that the department is staffed with competent & dedicated team members and ensure that there is a proper succession plan in place.
  • Identify competency gaps, manage learning and development plans and provide opportunities to team members to learn and grow

 

Financial Management & Procurement

  • Prepare IT budgets and monitor accordingly.
  • Manage the budget and ensure best deals with regards to procurement and supply of IT solutions.
  • Define and regular review IT purchasing process to ensure relevant controls are in place
  • Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Technology and Management or relevant field;
  • At least 8 or more years’ experience in IT and business/industry work experience including 5 years in a team management role;
  • Strategic thinking, leadership, planning and communication skills;
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry / industrial production will be an advantage;
  • ITIL, PMP certifications will be an advantage;

  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment, with strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Self – motivated, inquisitive, proactive, energetic and emanating strong positive attitude and energy
  • Agility and ability to adapt to a changing business environment
