Safety & Health Officer

Winners, the leading supermarket chain in Mauritius, is looking for a Safety & Health Officer who as part of the Safety & Health team will implement policies related to the Safety & Health. The incumbent will report to the Safety & Health Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure that all OSH policies, procedures, rules and regulations are communicated and adhered to.
Assess the need for preventive measures to safeguard the safety and health of employees and any other collaborators within the company.
Inspect and evaluate workplace environment, equipment, and practices, to ensure compliance with safety standards and legal requirements.
Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections, risk assessments are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
Carry out investigations on incidents, complaints and recurrent health cases to identify and provide solutions to workplace situations.
Conduct appropriate safety induction and training session and ensure training records are maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management
2 years of experience in Retail, Manufacturing sector or any similar environment
Conversant with MS Office package
Holder of a valid driving licence

OTHER REQUISITES:

Positive proactive team player with a dynamic personality
Effective communication, organizational and time management skills
Ability to demonstrate analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Detail and results-oriented
Ability to work under pressure
Available to work on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, as well as odd hours
Holder of a valid driving license
