The 2019 edition of the Dodo Trail took place on Sunday, July 7, on the West coast of Mauritius. A total of 1,350 trailers lined up for the five events of the day where families, and spectators were gathered in a friendly and joyful atmosphere at the Dodo Trail Village, located at Riverland Sports Club in Tamarin. This is where Gilberte Libel and Simon Desvaux de Marigny have crossed the finish line of the Dodo Trail XTREME 50KM, the star race of the event.
IBL is delighted by the enthusiasm generated by this sports event. “We are very satisfied that the participants, professionals and amateurs, have showed up once again to come and give the best of themselves or just have a good time together with family or friends. Each year, the Dodo Trail comes with a lot of surprises and great performances. We wish to thank all our participants; Thanks to the their Rs 50 contribution while registering, Rs 70,550 were collected for the NGO FORENA to support its initiative for the rehabilitation and reforestation of the Black River Gorges National Park”, says Thierry Labat, Head of Corporate Services of IBL.
As per tradition, the Dodo Trail hosted star runners, including Rory Scheffer and Naomi Brand, for the 50KM Dodo Trail XTREME. After a 5h42mn28 race, it was the Mauritian Simon Desvaux de Marigny who crossed the finish line as the winner, improving his personal best. “I’m pretty happy with my performance even though it was not easy at first. I was able to overtake my opponents on the first climb, even if crossing La Tourelle du Tamarin was very complicated due to the heat. I then was able to manage the track as well as my time. I am really happy to keep my title for the third year in a row, “says Simon Desvaux de Marigny.
During the DODO Trail TROOPER 25KM, it was Jonathan Cotte who distinguished himself by taking the first step of the men’s podium, ahead of Freddy Rou and Nicolas Queland. For women, it was Lea Cavelier who dominated the race, followed by Geraldine Fournier and Sandrine Busviah. Regarding the Dodo Trail RELAY 25KMX2, the victory went to the team i2i Optical in men and TDR in women. The Dodo Trail ACTIVE 10KM saw the success of Zoe Thomas in men and Claire Simon in women. The 4KM FUN RUN Dodo, which was held in good spirits, had Dillon Stewart as the winner in boys and Tayana Ozou in girls.
