Patrick Bouic and Jocelyn Labour retire from IBL Group

It is with some regret, but warm wishes that IBL announces the retirement of Patrick Bouic and Jocelyn Labour from the group.

Patrick Bouic completed a bachelor’s degree in Commerce in 1988. He studied insurance with the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). He then moved to City Brokers Ltd (CBL) in October 1989, to join Clement Bouic who founded the company in 1986. Always eager to learn, Patrick followed a training programme at Sedgwick (insurance broking) & EW Payne (reinsurance broking) from July to December 1990. He then completed his Associateship to the CII from the College of Insurance in May 1991.

Patrick became CEO of CBL back in July 1991 with Clement Bouic’s departure. The company grew steadily on insurance broking and consultancy services and in 1999, GML became a 50% shareholder. CBL has serviced all the types of activities / organisations in Mauritius on risk transfer optimization. In 2015, Chedid Group did a 50/50 partnership with IBL in CBL. Patrick leaves CBL after serving the company for 30 years. He will remain as a director on the CBL Board of Directors to continue steering the company in the right direction and take it to new heights.

Jocelyn Labour obtained a Master’s degree in Electro-mechanical Engineering with a specialty in telecommunication at l’Université Libre de Bruxelles in 1984. He started his career at FUEL thermal where he was responsible for the electrical network of the factory and for five years, he modernized its electrical distribution system. Following his dream to work in Africa, Jocelyn moved to Burundi in 1990 to become the Manager of a new sugar factory. For about four years, he has worked on implementing the factory’s Management system. Back in Mauritius, Jocelyn joined Mauvilac Industries as Factory Manager in March 1994. He later joined Scomat as Sales Manager in 1999 and two years later was promoted as General Manager when Jean-Patrick Ferrat moved to the then IBL Engineering. Apart from business, Jocelyn has participated in many social activities with IBL/Scomat.

After 20 years of serving the company, Jocelyn has ended his career at Scomat on the 31st December 2019. A handing over has been completed with the management team and The “Engineering & Energy” cluster, regrouping our other commercial engineering activities, is now headed by Emmanuel André.
